Post ReleaseXpress expands EV taxis with BYD, gains Forbes Asia recognition as fuel costs rise
Philippine mobility platform Xpress Super App marked its anniversary with rapid expansion across transport hubs and tourism markets, growing its electric taxi fleet with BYD while gaining Forbes Asia recognition as rising fuel costs reshape the transport industry.
Manila Philippines - March 30, 2026 - Philippine mobility platform Xpress Super App marked its anniversary with a year of expansion highlighted by electric vehicle deployment, inclusion in Forbes Asia’s “100 to Watch”, and continued growth across major transport hubs, tourism destinations, and urban commuter markets.
Launched in Metro Manila in 2024, Xpress has developed into a multi-service mobility platform offering ride-hailing, motorcycle transport, electric taxis, and tourism mobility services through a single application. The platform is backed by Cebuana Lhuillier, supporting its nationwide reach and operational scale.
The company said its focus on electrification and integrated transport reflects changing conditions in the industry as fuel prices remain volatile both globally and in the Philippines.
Forbes Asia Recognition Signals Regional Visibility
In 2025, Xpress was included in Forbes Asia’s “100 to Watch” list, recognizing emerging companies across Asia-Pacific with strong growth potential and innovation. Only a limited number of Philippine companies were included, placing Xpress among a select group gaining international visibility.
Expansion Across Metro Manila and Tourism Markets
Over the past year, Xpress expanded across Metro Manila and key travel locations, including major transport terminals, commuter rail stations, and tourism destinations such as Boracay. Through its mobile application, passengers can book cars, motorcycles, and local transport vehicles with app-based fares and cashless payment.
The company said demand for structured ride-hailing services has increased as travel activity continues to recover.
Electric Taxi Rollout with BYD as Fuel Prices Rise
A major part of the company’s expansion has been the rollout of electric taxis through cooperation with BYD. The company said its early investment in electric vehicles has become more relevant as fuel prices rise, increasing operating costs for traditional fleets.
Electric taxis allow more stable operating expenses while supporting the shift toward cleaner transport. The company has also begun deploying a limited number of electric motorcycle units for short-distance travel.
Featured in Music Video and Expanding Into Major Events
Xpress was recently featured in the music video for the song Palihim by Tommie King, where both the Xpress mobile app and vehicles appeared as part of the production.
The company also confirmed it will serve as the presenter and official transportation partner of the Howlers Music Festival on May 16, 2026, to be held at the Filinvest City Festival Grounds. More information is available at www.howlersmanila.com .
Preparing for the Next Phase of Growth
Looking ahead, Xpress said it is preparing for expansion into additional cities while increasing its electric vehicle fleet and building partnerships with transport hubs, tourism operators, and corporate clients.
The company said its focus remains on electrification, long-term planning, and integrated mobility solutions as transport systems across Southeast Asia continue to evolve.
