Powerful Talk on Mental Health Awareness
Mamburao, Occidental Mindoro - October 07, 2025 - motivational speaker Coach Boost Gio delivered a heartfelt mental health awareness talk at Thalia’s Event Place. The event gathered over 130 employees from the Department of Education (DepEd) to listen, reflect and internalize his central message: “Love Yourself.”
The workshop was part of the county’s mental health awareness program and aimed at empowering school workers with knowledge and moral support. Known for his genuine storytelling and engaging delivery, Coach Boost Gio – whose real name is Angelo Bañaga – captured the hearts of the audience as he stressed the importance of self-love as a foundation for mental well-being.
“Before you can give love, teach well or serve others, you have to know how to love yourself first,” he said. When you honor what you’re feeling, when you take care of your mind and embrace all that you are, you become a better version of yourself, and that affects everyone around you.
They described the talk as refreshing, uplifting, and timely as teachers grapple with post-pandemic challenges and evolving workloads. Many attendees were grateful as they felt empowered and reconnected to the reason they chose their respective career paths.
“Sometimes, we are so engrossed with the work we do that we forget ourselves,” one DepEd employee said. “Coach Boost Gio” emphasized that it is alright to pause and take care of one’s mental health. His message really hit home. Stop putting others before yourself.
As a mental health advocate and motivational speaker, Coach Boost Gio conducts talks and workshops nationwide in various schools, organizations, and communities. Through his co-founded platform, Kwento Co, he continues to promote stories of empowerment and resilience. He focuses on helping people overcome self-limiting beliefs, be their authentic selves, and live a purposeful life.
“Mental health awareness is not just a one-day conversation,” he said. It’s something we must practice every day by being kinder to ourselves and others, setting healthy boundaries, and believing that we are enough. "
The DepEd employees of Occidental Mindoro sincerely thanked Coach Boost Gio for his authenticity and heartfelt message. The organizers thanked him for sharing his message; educators can be strong sources of support and encouragement for students.
And left an indelible mark on everyone who witnessed this iconic moment of self-love and acceptance.
And that awareness, acceptance, and self-love are the primary steps toward living a better life.
