Manila, Philippines - February 20, 2026 -
– March 20, 2026 – In a
landmark ceremony of profound cultural and spiritual significance, the sacred relics
of Venerable Master Hsing Yun, the founding patriarch of Fo Guang Shan, were
permanently enshrined today at the Mabuhay Temple. This historic “Enshrinement
Ceremony,” witnessed by thousands of devotees and community leaders, transcends a traditional religious
observance. It stands as a powerful celebration of the Master’s lifelong
dedication to the Filipino people, honoring his transformative legacy, which
has woven itself deeply into the nation's social fabric through pioneering
education, vibrant cultural development, and the promotion of universal values.
The enshrinement symbolizes the permanent anchoring of Venerable Master Hsing Yun’s compassionate spirit in the Philippines, a country he tirelessly served. His vision catalyzed a multifaceted legacy, most notably through the establishment of the Guang Ming College system in Manila and Tagaytay and the Guang Ming Institute in Cebu. These institutions have become beacons of opportunity, offering full scholarships to nurture generations of young Filipino artists, educators, and professionals, empowering them to contribute meaningfully to society. A cornerstone of his contribution is the groundbreaking “Three Acts of Goodness” (Do Good Deeds, Speak Good Words, Think Good Thoughts) Schools Project, implemented in partnership with the Department of Education in the Philippines. This national program has been instrumental in strengthening the foundation of Values Education and Good Manners and Right Conduct (GMRC), providing a practical ethical framework for millions of students. In the realm of cultural diplomacy, the Venerable Master’s support led to the spectacular Siddhartha Musical. This world-class production, staged over 200 times across continents, has showcased extraordinary Filipino artistic talent on the global stage, transforming a Buddhist narrative into a unifying cultural treasure.
Beyond education and the arts, his legacy flourishes through extensive charitable outreach, including donations of medical equipment, gift-giving, and disaster relief, as well as steadfast interfaith initiatives that build bridges of understanding and foster lasting social harmony. The newly constructed Guang Ming College elementary and high school complex further extends this commitment to holistic youth development.
Today’s solemn
ceremony, marked by sacred chanting and grand procession, was ultimately a
celebration of life and enduring impact. The enshrinement of Venerable Master
Hsing Yun’s relics ensures that his guiding light of wisdom, compassion, and
proactive goodness will continue to illuminate the Philippine heart and mind,
inspiring a legacy of peace and progress for generations to come.
