PLDT and Smart introduce EVE, an AI-powered platform helping employees prepare for emergencies with tailored guidance.
From personalized emergency plans to tailored preparedness recommendations, a newly deployed agentic AI solution is helping PLDT Group employees and their families prepare for emergencies with greater confidence and peace of mind. Designed to identify location-based risks and turn information into practical action, the AI-powered tool supports safer homes and stronger resilience through guidance tailored to each employee’s unique needs.
Recognizing that emergencies affect not only employees but also the families who support them, PLDT and its wireless unit Smart Communications, Inc. (Smart) developed EVE, short for Emergency Vital Essentials, AI-Powered emergency preparedness agent to help people prepare before crises happen. The initiative strengthens the Group’s broader efforts to build a culture of safety, resilience, and preparedness across the organization.
“Preparedness should not begin only when emergencies happen. It starts long before that, with awareness, planning, and making sure our people have the right tools to protect their families,” said Leo A. Gonzales, Vice President and Head of Property, Facilities, and Asset Resiliency Management for PLDT and Smart. “By using AI, we can provide more personalized guidance and help our employees prepare for situations that may affect what matters most to them.”
The digital platform allows PLDT Group employees to proactively prepare for emergencies by organizing important family information, identifying risks, and creating customized preparedness plans. It can generate tailored reports based on household needs, including medical conditions, mobility requirements, dietary considerations, and other factors that may require special attention during emergencies. The platform also uses AI-driven scenario simulations and home safety assessments to help employees and their families strengthen preparedness at home, build confidence in their emergency plans, and stay focused on serving customers even during times of crisis.
The AI solution also guides users through key preparedness steps, from understanding potential risks and identifying trusted information sources to creating family communication and reunification plans during emergencies.
The EVE platform complements Handa, PLDT and Smart’s homegrown mobile app that helps monitor employee location and safety during calamities and emergency situations. While Handa supports real-time visibility and response during incidents, the new AI-powered solution focuses on helping employees prepare before emergencies happen—strengthening workforce resilience through both readiness and response.
All these initiatives form part of PLDT and Smart’s broader commitment to disaster resilience and preparedness.
